History

UINTA FINE FOLK ART GUILD (SANTA’S WORKSHOP)

In 1978 Uinta Fine and Folk Art Guild Division of the Little Galley of Arts, Inc. (formerly Uinta Potters Guild Division of the Little Gallery of Arts, Inc) was organized. The guild participated in the summer annual Dinosaur Days & Out Law Trail Craft shows in Vernal. The Guild was renamed as Uinta Fine Folk Art Guild in 1984.

In 1979-80, the Guild held their 1st annual craft show known as “Santa’s Workshop” – which for 42 years, has become well known throughout the Uintah Basin. Santa’s Workshop is instrumental in helping to provide artists and crafters a way to display and sale their crafts, gifts, ideas and many unique, homemade items. This has been one of the very few crafts shows in the Uintah Basin to continue to only allow home made items into their craft show.(this changed to allow anything when covid happened and everyone loved the change)

The objective and purpose of the Guild is to encourage interest in the fine and folk arts, to encourage individuality, originality and freedom to express their talents; to provide opportunities for public recognition and actively promote their homemade exhibits and sales of their individual talents and freedom of artistic abilities displayed throughout the craft show.
